Field Museum New Delhi

The fort is one of the greatest examples of the ancient legends of the city. Archeologists carried out excavations in the years 1950-1970 and tried to find how old the site used to be. They found that the settlements in this place started from 4th century BC and continued till the 19th century AD. The excavations also reveal that the Qila was built by both Humayun and Sher Shah and the site was actually the famous city of Indrapastra.
The major attraction of the Field Museum, New Delhi is the piece of painted grey pottery and the artifacts dating around 1000 BC. The articles of this sort are evidences to prove that it was site of Indrapastra. The archeologists also found coins from the Sunga period (200BC-100BC). The museum is also the display place for the objects that were available during the Mauryan to the Mughal period. The terracotta figures and works of art are found from the Mauryan period (300 BC).
The Field Museum, New Delhi also displays red earthenware of the Kushan period. The rjaput coins, glazed ware and coins are also available in the museum. All the displays are from the Gupata period Sultanate period, Kushan period and Sunga period. The coins belonging to Muhammad Tughlaq are also available. The 16th century Chinese glass ware and porcelain ware excellence is also on display.
