The Jantar Mantar, Delhi is located in the modern and new city of New Delhi. The exclusive building was built in the year 1724 by Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur. The Jantar Mantar, Delhi has various abstract structures which are the instruments to locate the movements of the celestial bodies. It is located on the Sansad Marg between the Connaught place and the Rastrapati Bhavan.

The Jantar Mantar, Delhi is one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh II. The other four are located at Jaipur, Varanasi, Ujjain and Mathura. Jai Singh created the Jantar Mantar to know the positions of the stars so that that the kings can go out for the expeditions according to the position of the stars.

The Jantar Mantar, Delhi was created during the dark ages of India. The Mughal Empire was loosing its power. During this period Muhammad Shah took up throne for the Mughal Empire. In 1699, Jai Singh ascended the throne in amber and came to limelight.

But the two pillars which are located on the South West corner of the place are to check the longest and the shortest day of the year. The Jantar Mantar, Delhi is considered to be the scientific heritage of the country. The place remains open form morning 9 am to 7pm in the evening.
