Spice Route Restaurant, Delhi

To cater to the Thai Cuisine hungry natives and tourists of Delhi, the Imperial Hotel has set up an excellent in-house Thai restaurant, Spice Route Restaurant. The eatery has earned a number of laurels and awards including a position on the Condé Nast Traveler's top 10 restaurants in the world. A number of authentic ingredients and spices are used to cook up traditional Thai dishes. You may wish to start the evening with a warm Tom Kha Kai, a spicy Tomato soup laced with chicken and coconut milk and spiced up with lemon grass and kafir leaves. The Keralan seafood delicacy Chemeen Thoran has been adapted to impart a Thai flavor with coconut, tamarind, curry leaves and mustard. Kung Nang Phad Khing, the sautéed lobster dish tempered with ginger, Thai Mushroom and the eternal favorite Malu Miris (a stew of vegetables, water chestnuts and coral mushrooms in spicy gravy) are among the range of exotic and delightful dishes that feature on the menu.

The ambience is spectacular and the theme based decor depicts 9 stages of life. Artisans and painters from Kerala have put in painstaking efforts to recreate pillars, murals and frescoes infused with meaningful carvings and paintings. The "Wealth section" is tastefully done up with original 24-karat gold leaves while the "Ancestral section" is made to resemble ancient temples and shrines in Thailand.

Most main course dishes at the Spice Route Restaurant are priced between Rs 400 and Rs 950. Prior booking of a table is recommended though not mandatory.
