The Empress of China is one of the leading Chinese restaurants in New Delhi and is the in house restaurant at the Hotel Intercontinental Nehru Place. The restaurant is famed for the many varieties of dim sums served here in traditional cane baskets. The dim sums such as Crispy Vegetable Dumplings and Steamed Chicken Meatballs are served here with the traditional tea, Yum Cha. Guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to the menu. Starters may include Deep Fried Crumbed Prawns Vegetable Beancurd Spring Rolls and Golden Fried Prawns. The Hot and Sour Soup is best on a chilly winter evening while a chilled glass of beer is perfect on a hot summer day. The house recommends salt and pepper prawns as appetizers. The main dishes array includes Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pineapple Crispy Honey Chicken, Steamed Chicken in Hoisin Sauce, Prawns in Hot Garlic Sauce and Stir Fried Lettuce in Garlic. The Peking Duck served at the Empress Of China transports us to Nanjing's royal kitchens. The carved duck is served in wafer thin pancakes laced with black bean sauce.
