The Se Cathedral is a very huge church located in Old Goa. It is one of the largest churches in Asia. The Portuguese Viceroy Redondo commissioned the Se, or St. Catherine's' Cathedral, southwest of St. Cajetan's, to be "a grandiose church worthy of the wealth, power and fame of the Portuguese who dominated the seas from the Atlantic to the Pacific". The church Se Cathedral is intricately carved from top to bottom. Built in Manueline with Corinthian style of architecture, the Se Cathedral today stands larger than any church in Goa and Portugal. The history traces back to the time of Dominicans, who were the first missionaries to be sent to India by the Portuguese. The church was designed by Julio Simao and Ambrosio Argueiro.

The church Se Cathedral is a majestic piece of architecture with its sky-high ceilings. The west side of the Se Cathedral is bedecked with Tuscan exteriors, its square towers in Manueline style flanking the 98-ft high facade. The Se Cathedral is famous for its five massive bells one of the tower houses the golden bell that was cast in Cuncolim, a village in Salcete Taluka in the 17th century. The interior of the church has a Corianthian architecture. There are 15 altars dedicated to several deities. The deities are Our Lady of Hope, Our Lady of Anguish, and Our Lady of Three Needs. The grand altar is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria. The main altar has carved frames depicting the life of St. Catherine and a magnificent crucifix. The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and of the Cross of Miracles, both embellished with exquisite filigree work on the screens.
