Hyderabad Weather
Hyderabad is one of the largest cities in India and is a burgeoning IT center in the country. As the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad is a unique combination of rich cultural heritage and progressive scientific and technological development. Besides, the city acts as the gateway to tourists moving north from South India or vice versa. Not surprisingly, the city attracts millions of tourists every year. Most tourists are apprehensive of visiting the city during the summer months as the weather averages about 86°F or 30°C; it is not, however, uncommon to experience a temperature of about 113°F or 45°C in the month of May. The hottest months of the city are March, April, May and June. July brings some relief in the form of thundershowers brought in from the Bay of Bengal. One should keep in mind however, that Hyderabad lies in the rain shadow of the Eastern Ghats, the mountain range running parallel to the south eastern coastline. Thus rainfall is uncertain and may not bring adequate relief from the sweltering sun.
Hyderabad experiences an average precipitation of 30.8 inches throughout the year. Most of the rainfall occurs in September which brings an average of 6.9 inches precipitation. It helps to remember that Hyderabad is located very close to the Tropic of Cancer and hence the city experiences tropical climate, like the rest of the country.
Winter is probably the best season in Hyderabad. This accounts for the overflowing crowds that visit the city in this season. Temperatures range from 71.6°F to 53.6°F or about 22 °C to 12 °C. October to March accounts for most of the tourist influx in Hyderabad. This is the season when the rainfall is almost over and the temperatures are pleasant. Before you undertake a trip to Hyderabad, especially in summer, it is helpful to ascertain the current year's forecast.
