Birla Mandir Hyderabad
The Birla Mandir in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh is a fabulous temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, also known as Balaji in the north. This marble edifice stands atop a hill Kala Pahad meaning black rock and offers a lovely bird's eye view of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad and the surrounding regions. This shrine overlooks the southern part of Tank Bund or the Hussain Lake and looks stunning when illuminated at the night.
Once you get there you will experience a feeling of serenity. A large number of steps will lead you to the sanctum sanctorum. Along the meandering path, you will find many figurines of Hindu mythological Gods and Goddesses built in marble amid the colorful garden. You will marvel at the intricately art work in the ceilings, the exquisitely carved structures and figurines and mythological depictions on the walls of the temples. You can identify the scenes from the great Hindu epics - Ramayana and Mahabharata which are beautifully sculpted in marble. The elaborate and elegant artwork bear witness to the sculptural excellence and superior craftsmanship of the artisans.

This tower is created in Orissan style, while the towers lying over the shrines of the consorts are constructed in the South Indian architectural style.
Lord Venkateshwara has two consorts- Padmavati and Andal who are enclosed in different shrines. The image of Lord Venkateshwara is built in marble and has a height of 11 ft. There is a wonderful carved lotus that forms an umbrella for the image.
