Some Twenty kilometers away from the heart of city of Hyderabad, the wonderful Gandipet Lake is located. The lake is also known as the Osman sagar because the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad constructed a dam on the river Musi to save the city form the disastrous floods. Mokshgundam Vishweswarraya planned the design of the lake. The gandipet lake has a catchment area of about forty six square kilometers while the actual area of the lake is about twenty nine square kilometers.

The Gandipet lake is considered to be the most vital source of water supply to the cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.. The favorable time to visit this lake is after the monsoons. To make the site of Gandipet Lake all the more inviting to the tourists the authorities have created a few landscaped gardens and a swimming pool in the vicinity of the lake.
