Tala, Kolkata is an important trade & commercial center in the North Kolkata. The area lies just before the confluence of B.T. Road & R.G. Kar Road. It is near to the suburbs of Dum Dum. This region forms one of the many residential places in the city.

Accessibility:

The Barrackpur Trunk Road connects the western frontiers of Tala region. Towards the lower part (south) of Tala is the R.G. Kar Road. The bus and taxi services are easily accessible in this area. The distance between Tala and the city central is about 6 kms.

  -  Chitpur: Chitpur has existed for at least 400 years. The place got its name from the goddess Chiteswari. The Circular Canal joins the Hooghly River at Chitpur.   -  Jorasanko Thakur Bari, the home of the Tagore family is situated here. Chitpur is home to the third and latest railway passenger terminal for the city, after   -  Howrah and Sealdah.

  -  Tala Tank: Tala Tank which was built in the British regime in 1911 on a platform 110 ft. high has a capacity to reserve one million gallons of water. It is one of the important water distribution tanks in the city.
  -  Tala Park: It is the best park in the suburb to offer. You can walk around the lake & breathe fresh air. There is also an arrangement for swimming.
