Churchgate is the name of the town was named after the name of the famous Churchgate railway station. This place is situated in the down in the South. Churchgate is the southernmost railway station. This station is the terminus of the Western Railway line of Mumbai suburban railway. It is the home to the Western Railway headquarters. The name Churchgate comes from the words Church and Gate. The Church refers to the St. Thomas Church and the gate refers to the ancient gate that is situated at the Flora Fountain. Churchgate is an old town.

Near the Churchgate railway station on can locate the Railway Booking Office and the Department of Tourism office. From Churchgate one road goes to Flora Fountain and the other goes to Marine Drive.
