Introduction:

History:

Malabar Hills, Mumbai is a small hill place in Southern Mumbai . It is the one of the most expensive places in the world. It is the place where the Walkeshwar temple is situated which was built by the Silhara kings. During the 1715 reign of Rama Kamath, this temple was rebuilt which was initially destroyed by the Portuguese. The height of the temple is 50 metres , which is 80 feet and hence is the highest point in actual Mumbai . Also, the tank attached to this temple is the Banganga tank, which is believed to be built from the Hindu mythology after Lord Rama shot an arrow to sprout out a spring of water to quench his thirst. He was on his way to Sri Lanka to save his kidnapped wife Sita.

Malabar Hills, Mumbai is the most luxurious, most expensive and posh residential area in whole of Mumbai. Almost all the apartments in this area are built in such a fashion that each apartment would get a view of the complete skyline of the city. The famous temple that is built in the name of the first Tirthankara, Adinath. The temple is also built lavishly. It is built in marble and the walls are painted with very bright and attractively. These paintings depict the lives of the 24 Jain Tirthankaras. There are floors to this temple and is made in black marble. On the top of Malabar hills lie the famous Hanging gardens . These gardens are now known as the Pherozshah Mehta Gardens in the name of the famous barrister. These gardens were built in 1881.These gardens have terraces and each of its hedges are cut in the shapes of animals. There is also a flower clock in this hanging garden. Also the other tourist attraction is the Kamla Nehru Park named after the first prime minister of India. Malabar Hills, Mumbai are called as the Beverly Hills in India.
