Sariska Tiger Reserve, India is located in the Alwar district of the Rajasthan State. To be precise, it is located about 21 km from the city of Alwar. The forest is a typical dry deciduous one. Alwar is the nearest town as well as the nearest railway station. There is frequent bus service between Alwar and Sariska. There are two options of reaching the Reserve. From Delhi the distance is 200 km and from Jaipur it is 110 km. The nearest airport is found at Jaipur.

The Sariska Tiger Reserve, India was formed in 1978. Besides tigers, herbivores, spotted deer, Sambar, blue bull is mostly seen. As per the census, Tiger, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Nilgai, Chowsingha, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Civet, Palm Civet and Ratel are also counted. An ancient fort called Kankwari Fort is situated in the midst of the Reserve. Neelkanth and Garh Rajor are ruins of the Shiva and Jain temples are contemporary of the world famous Khajuraho. About 90% forest area is covered with the Dhok species of trees. Boswelia serreta and Lannea coromandelica sprout out in rocky patches. Kattha and Bamboo are usually found in valleys. Other trees, which are found, are Palas, Ber, Arjun, Gugal, Kadaya, Amla and Bahera. As far as the fauna are concerned, Caracal, Rusty Spotted Cat, Four-horned Antelope are also located. There are many villages inside the Reserve and many on the edge. The main occupation of the local people is rearing cattle. Although the Sanctuary is open to visitors throughout the year, the ideal time is from October to June.
