- Gambir station in Jakarta
Gambir station is recently being considered as the main station for long distance passengers in Jakarta. Gambir station is located in Central Jakarta, to the east of the Monas. Both the AC and non-AC trains depart from Gambir station. Trains to Bandung, the capital city of West Java province are the most frequent providing almost a two-hourly service and departing throughout the day. Most of the trains which travel to farther cities like Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Malang or Surabaya, depart in the mornings and the late afternoon to the evening.
- Pasar Senen station in Jakarta
Pasar Senen station is the base for mostly economical trains without air-conditioning. This station is located two blocks east of Gambir station.
- Jatinegara station in Jakarta
Most of the trains which arrive in Jakarta, also stop at Jatinegara station in the eastern part of the city. These trains give better access to the eastern and southern parts of the city.
- Jakarta Kota station
Jakarta Kota station is located in the old part of the city and serves as the departure point for commuter trains and some trains leaving for Merak.
Tourists can look for information about train ticket from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on the net. But, it would still take a bit more time before on-line reservation becomes a reality. Ticket reservations are generally made in the Juanda station which is located across the Istiqlal mosque and the Roman Catholic Cathedral, north of Gambir. If you happen to travel on the same day, you can avail the tickets at the north part of Gambir station.
