Jerusalem Classical Music Centre

Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre since its inception in 1973 has nurtured many talents and given a platform to numerous unrecognized musical prodigies. The institute has bridged the gap between the two worlds of music-the eastern and the western. Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre has been dedicated to initiate and implement much needed programs and projects that the education system and culture establishment have not been able to cater to.

The Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre is an independent and a dynamic organization, which develops projects responding to varying requirements and new goals. The uniqueness of this school lies in its flexible nature. it doesn't have a fixed curriculum, nor permanent teaching staff, nor enrolled pupils.

Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre has multi-annual educational programs which are planned for primary and high school children for a long span of time preferably throughout one's high school years. Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre gives the young people an opportunity to perform, they give them exposure and also gain an important experience. Many of these concerts are broadcasted live on the Israeli classical music network, Kol Hamusica giving them an extra edge.

Over the years, the program run by the Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre revolutionized string quartet in Israel; it produced the acclaimed Jerusalem Quartet and the recent Ariel Quartet. The projects run by Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre has been going from strength to strength and it has gradually become clear that special emphasis must be given to the infrastructure. There have been certain parameters on which the assessment has been done like:

  -   Nurturing of young talented people
  -   Screening and encouragement of promising musicians
  -   Teaching string instruments in elementary schools
  -   The Young Philharmonic Orchestra

There have been various events organized in the Jerusalem - Classical Music Centre which has given the young musicians an exposure and experience. The events that followed are Workshop for Choir Directors, The New Israeli Ensemble (on 11.4.2007) and Jerusalem Saxophones (17.4.2007).
