International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Israel started functioning from the month of July in 1981. It is located in Netanya in Israel. The city of Netanya is in the center district of Israel and is named after the Jewish Philanthropist Nathan Strauss. This beach side town has the the International Hall of Fame. The hall of fame is also a sports museum making it a well-known Museums in Israel.

International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Israel is different from the forerunner,The Jewish Hall of Fame. The earlier hall of fame used to honor only the American Jews . But the International Jewish Sports Hall of fame ,as the name implies , give awards to sports persons and athletes of the Jewish Community from all over the world.

The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame was set up to accolade the sports persons . It gives awards to extraordinary achievement makers in the field of sports. Also it honors the upcoming Jewish sports man and sportswomen. The Pillar of Achievement is a special award given to those who have made contributions in the society leading to betterment through sports. They also present the lifetime achievement award to the persons who have helped in bringing changes in the society and the state of Israel being in the field sports.

The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Israel is a partnership organization with the Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel and the Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sports. The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Israel have annual elections . The announcements for the elections are made in December and the nominations are to be submitted to the director of The International Jewish Hall of Fame Israel . Everyone is welcome to contest the elections .
Some famous recipients of the awards are the Australian rugby player , Albert Rosenfeld and the Dutch Tennis player Tom Okker.
