Getting to Fukuoka by Train
Fukuoka city is simple magical place with its prime locations and historical relics. It is interesting to note however that the present city of Fukuoka is born out of the culmination of two cities- Hakata and Fukuoka. Being a modern city, it has a good transport network and the best way to get to Fukuoka from other points outside the city is by train. Even years later Hakata remains to be the citys main railway station.Fukuoka is the center of the fastest trains in Japan the Shinkansen. Also known as bullet train, the Hakata Station is the major terminus for the Sanyo Shinkansen reaching Fukuoka from Kokura in Kitakyushu, Okayama, Nagoya and Hiroshima. Another train, Tokaido Shinkansen links Fukuoka to Tokyo, Nagoya and Kyoto.
A host of other trains are also available. Like the Sunrise Izumo leaving Tokyo at night links the connecting Shinkansen at Okayama bound for Fukuoka. A new introduction named Kyushu Shinkansen from Kagoshima is planned to provide services up till Fukuoka but due to some complications the train stops for the time being at Sin-Yatsushiro. From here relay trains are available for Fukuoka. Another train named Kamone runs from Nagasaki for Fukuoka.
The train services in and around Fukuoka are great and ensure a comfortable and relaxing journey to the enchanting city.
