At one point of time in Fukuoka, Kuroda clan wielded immense power in Japanese society and it was quite common for the lords of Kuroda clan to build a landscaped garden and villa. The Kuroda clan once ruled over northern Kyushu Island, and was very influenced by the court nobles of the 12th century. The Kuroda clan had not only warlords but they were castle builder too. The funny part of all this is that the villa or garden lasted for one generation.

Yusentei Park and Villa was built by Tsugitaka Kuroda, who was a 6th generation lord in the Kuroda clan, at Tajima in 1754 AD. However, this park and villa was made the permanent villa of the clan, which was quite uncommon from the norm. The name Yuentei came later as it was named after a later Lord's tanka poetry. It is an exceedingly pleasing garden, very verdant with sculpted stone arrangements that make a beeline to connect with elemental nature. Not only this, the garden has a pond and you can take all your time to visit and explore this garden.
