Getting to Hiroshima by Ferry
As Japan is girdled on all sides by water, the ferry service is one of the most important modes of transport in the country. Hiroshima too has an extensive ferry service, with regular ferries connecting the city to the other parts of Japan. Getting to Hiroshima by ferry is therefore as convenient as the train or air route. In fact, the boat ride is an enjoyable experience as one relishes the azure stretch of the Inland Sea.Hiroshima is linked to the other parts of the country by a network of ferries. Ferry services are available even from South Korea. Both slow and fast ferries are available to the city though the rates naturally differ according to the speed taken.
The city is connected to Matsuyama. The Ishizaki Ferry has regular boats which often stop at Kure, and reach Hiroshima in about two and a half hours. The 'Super Jet' jetfoil service travels between Hiroshima and Matsuyama in an amazing speed of a little more than an hour.
A number of ferries run between Hiroshima and Imabari that takes about two hours. 'Soreile' offers an extremely fast boat service between Hiroshima and Beppu. Matsuyama too falls on the route of this ferry.
