Japanese language is spoken over by 130 million people mostly in the continents of Asia and Americas. Distinguished as an agglutinative language, its complex system of honorifics reflects the stratified nature of Japanese society. Every verb form and particular vocabulary indicates the relative rank of speaker and listener in the Japanese society.

Japanese language as a major lexicon originated in three 8th century works. Since then the Japanese people are using a mixture of three different types of alphabets. Thus, the script of Japan is a combination Chinese characters and two syllabic scripts namely hiragana and katakana. Romaji, a Latin alphabet is often used by the present generation of Japanese people especially for company names, advertising, and computer inputs. Both western style Arabic and traditional Sino-Japanese numerals are used for numbers.

Japanese language is the certified language of Japan. It has two forms, namely hyojungo or standard Japanese and kyotsugo or the common language. The former is mostly used in schools, television and in official communications. It is further sub-divided in to bungo or "literary language," and kogo or "oral language". The distinction is basically in the rules of grammar and variance in vocabulary. Kogo has been used as the leading method of talking and lettering by the people of Japan since the Second World War.
