Kobe, a port city of Japan is different from the other Japanese cities because of being less crowded. Hence it is an ideal place to unwind and have a relaxing vacation. However by no means does it mean that Kobe is a dull city. In fact Kobe is one of the most sought after tourist attractions because of the exclusive combination of serenity and enthusiasm that it offers its visitors. Adding to the fun quotient of Kobe is the city's love for sports. Getting involved in all sorts of Sports in Kobe is a passion for its people; it could be anything from football and baseball to karate, sumo wrestling and also golf. But among all this Baseball in Kobe has remained the most favored sport for years.

In Japan itself baseball was initiated in 1872 and the first Japanese Baseball Team was set up a few years later in 1878. The baseball enthusiasm hit Kobe much later and baseball in Kobe became popular from the time of the foundation of its very first baseball club.

Osaka Hankyu Baseball Club, the first Kobe Baseball Club was established in 1936. This club became popularly known as the Hankyu Braves. Playing for the Pacific League, it was counted as one of the most successful teams in the whole of Japan. After sometime the club was sold to the Orix group and was named the Orix Braves and finally renamed as the Orix Blue Wave in1991. By this time the Club had already made people passionate about baseball and made them develop a special attachment with this Kobe Sport.

At present The Kobe baseball team is called The Orix Buffaloes which was formed after the coming together of the Orix Blue Wave and the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes in 2004. The team still plays for the Central League and is becoming more and more well-liked with the passage of time. Baseball in Kobe is played mostly in the Skymark Stadium. This Kobe Baseball Stadium is the home ground for the Orix Buffaloes. The other stadium also used for baseball is the Osaka Dome.
