Shinkansen network has the Shin-Kobe station that is the nearest station to Kobe and just one stop away on the Yamate Seishin subway line from Sannomiya located in the heart of Kobe.

Reaching Kobe by train from Tokyo on the Shinkansen network takes 2 hours 50 minutes. Other than this, getting to Kobe by train is possible via many other trains. From Osaka, there are trains from Hanku-Umeda and Hanshin-Umeda stations. These trains take around half an hour to reach Sannomiya.

Getting to Kobe by train is also possible on the JR Kobe line. The Shin-Kaisoku (Special Rapid) or Kaisoku (Rapid) service departs from JR Osaka station reaches Sannomiya station in 20 and 26 minutes respectively. Even if a visitor finds getting to Kobe by air expensive, he may take trains from the international airport in Osaka to reach Kobe.

Getting to Kobe by train from Tokyo takes around 50 minutes on ordinary trains, while the more expensive bullet train covers the same distance in 30 minutes.
