Kobe Rapid Transit Railway Company Limited is a special railway company that facilitated the necessary infrastructure for four private railway lines. This company is based in central Kobe. The four lines maintained for Kobe railways , by this company are
- Hankyu Kobe Line (Hankyu),
- Hanshin Main Line( Hanshin),
- Shintetsu Arima Line (Shintetsu),
- Sanyo Electric Railway Main Line (Sanyo).
The Kobe Rapid railway runs to two lines:
- Tozai Line( east to west)
- Namboku lane (north to south)
The other company running trains for Kobe railways is Kobe Electric Railway Company Limited. This company is popularly also known as Shintetsu. This is a Japanese private railway company in Kobe and its surrounding cities and towns. The lines maintained and operated by the Kobe railways company are;
- Arima Line( Minatogawa –Arima Onsen).this line is jointly operated with the Namboku Line of Kobe Rapid Railwa(Minatogawa-Shinkaishi)
- Sanda Line (Arimaguchi- Sanda)
- Koen-Toshi Line (Yukoyama-Woody Towm Chuo)
- Ao Line (Suzurandai-Ao)
Railways in Kobe conveniently connects Kobe with the capital city Tokyo. The JR Tokaido Shinkansen connects Tokyo and Kobe. The Nozomi trains take about 170 minutes to reach Shin-Kobe Station from Tokyo. On the other hand the direct Hikari trains require about 195 minutes for covering this distance. Fare on this train is 13,760 yens for one way journey for non reserved seats, and around 14,100 Yens for reserved seats on Hikari trains. On Nozomi trains the train fare is around 14,500 Yens by reserved seats.
