Japan is a beautiful country. It boasts of having rich cultural heritage, technological superiority and immaculate streets. Due to the high demand for tickets, getting to Kyoto by Air becomes quite difficult. Travelers should do well to book their tickets well in advance (preferably at least one month in advance).

There is no airport, either domestic or international, in Kyoto city. The nearest airport in case of domestic flights is Osaka’s Itami airport. International travelers however take advantage of Kansai international airport (KIX). Getting to Kyoto by Air may not be literally true but Kyoto can nonetheless be reached by air.
With the flawless handling of over 500 flights a week from 75 cities across the world, Kansai International Airport (opened in 1994) is much less crowded and has become the preferred choice of the airliners. Unlike Tokyo’s Narita airport, the flights from Kansai International Airport take off on schedule. Besides, there are many souvenir shops and restaurants to let the traveler shop till he drops. However, the travelers should keep in mind that the journey from Kansai international airport to Kyoto is quite time consuming as well as expensive. The domestic travelers generally get off at Itami airport which is very well connected to the Tokyo airport. The journey between Itami airport and Kyoto is less time consuming and a lot cheaper.

One thing should always be kept in mind. The flights from Japanease airports, more often than not, take off on time; so the passengers must reach the airport sufficiently before the flight time. Having reached either kansai international airport or the itami airport, the travelers can reach to Kyoto by bus, train or other means. There are many places to see in this city. Kyoto the seventh largest city of Japan abounds in Buddhist temples, Shrines and numerous parks and gardens. Some of the major tourist hotspots in this city are Ryugen –in temple Zen Garden, Imperial Park, Byodoin Garden to name a few.
Some of the most recognized airliners that fly to Japan are British Airways, Japan Airlines (JAL), Northwest Airlines etc.
