The easiest way to reach Kyoto from Kansai International Airport is however on the Japan Railways. The Haruka express train ferries between the airport and the Kyoto city. The best part is that the train station is only 100 meters away from the second floor of the airport building. The travelers therefore do not have to waste time to board the train. However one thing should be remembered, that is, only trains running on the JR railway track reaches Kyoto. The service is very efficient with trains departing after every 30 minutes or so. The journey to Kyoto is completed within 75 minutes. The cost is 3400 Yen per person. The ticket can be purchased either by credit card or Yen. Getting to Kyoto by Train from Tokyo is cheaper compared to the expensive air fare. The Shinkansen (popularly called the bullet train) runs at a very fast speed making even the time factor less considerable. There are three types of Shinkansen train service-Kodama, Hikari and Nozomi. Kodama is a local train service; therefore stops are more frequent. Hikari is faster compared to kodama with lesser stops. However Nozomi is the fastest of Shinkansen train services with least number of halts.
