The Nagoya festival is perhaps the biggest festival that the city of Nagoya has to offer in terms of the fun and frolic that is attached to the whole event. The festival adds a new dimension to the entire city and it brightens up the autumn sky of Nagoya. The festival started way back in the fifties and has slowly graduated in to being the most important festival of the city. The festival is attended by thousands of people and is a top draw among the tourists and visitors.

The event celebrates three most helmeted samurai heroes belonging to the Nagoya area, the festival is held every year on the weekend of October. The nucleus of all the activities is the Sakae district mainly around the Oasis 21 complex, Hiasaya-Odori Park and the television tower. The Nagoya festival is extremely popular and attracts nearly twenty lakh spectators in just two days.

The highlight of the whole Nagoya festival is the Samurai heroes' parade where a humongous parade walks down the road engulfing one and all in the wave of the festivities. Several likenesses of the three feudal lords are seen sitting on the superbly decorated festival floats and are seen having a jolly good time.

There is a flower bus that has been taking part in the Nagoya festival since 1966 and is decorated with electric ornaments and flowers thus making it a treat to watch. Other than the flower bus there is the mountain car that is very well decorated with luxurious finish including some gold foil coating and sculpture.

The best part about the Nagoya festival is that it engulfs the entire city in festive spirits and entry to most of the places of sightseeing is made free during this period to encourage more and more people to indulge in some fun and frolic.
