Here is AsiaRooms.com is here offering you information regarding the National Museum of Art, Osaka, Japan.
A structure that rockets through the titanium-coated steel tubes and resembles a butterfly's wings this postmodern construct called the National Museum of Art, Osaka, Japan, rises from the atrium to become a sculptural icon of the skyline of the city. What was proudly included as Japan's Second City, the museum had been thrown open for public viewing since November 4, 2004. Located in an extremely unsuitable site, in a major arts neighborhood, the museum was conceived as a sculptural constitution that will also double up as a prime landmark of modern civilization.
Due to the constraints that were imposed by the construction site, the building had to be entirely erected underground. In order to convert the constraints into an advantage, the architects designed the logos of the museum viz. the steel and glass of the skylight roof out of the only ingredients that were available above the ground. It appears that the roof of the building rises from the grade echelon in an arch and, leaning through the area, it metamorphoses into an enclosed entrance lobby of sheer glass. The steel tubes coated with titanium are woven together so as to lend support to the glass of the porthole as well as to bind it in an enclosure so as to create a sculptural milestone rising as high as 170 feet.
The National Museum of Art, Osaka was founded in 1977 to make use of the building and facilities of the Expo Museum of Fine Arts which had put artifacts from all over the globe on exhibit at the 1970 World Exposition in Osaka. Located at the heart of a park that commemorates the Expo '70, the architectural masterpiece takes center stage amidst lush greenery and, along with several other museums, forms the present heart of cultural activity.
