Sunshine 60 Building is one of the most famous skyscrapers of the city of Tokyo. The building is located in the entertainment and commercial district of Ikebukuro in the Toshima ward of the city.

The Sunshine 60 Building in Tokyo was built in the year 1978. The building is a 240meter (787 Feet) high rise consisting of 60 grand floors. This fantastic architectural marvel was the tallest building in East Asia at the time it was built. However, after the construction of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in 1991, it became the second tallest high rise of Tokyo.

The building was constructed on the site of the now destroyed Sugamo Prison, where Japanese war criminals were kept during the Belligerent military occupation of 1948. This huge structure contains a large number of shops, offices, hotels, restaurants and other entertainment centers spread across its numerous floors. The entire complex, in which this building is situated, is known as Sunshine City.

The elevators of this building were the fastest elevators of the world at the time the building was built. They elevators travel at a speed of 600 meters per minute, which means it takes only 35 seconds to reach the 60th floor. The offices are located from the 10th to the 57th floor, while the 58th and the 59th floors have a restaurant. The lower stories of the building houses a post office, banks, showrooms, cafeterias, a health care center, and a day care center.

One fo the biggest attractions of the building is the Namja Namco Town or the Sunshine Namja Town. This is an indoor theme park consising of restaurants and a number of games. There is also a haunted house where one can find a number of traditional Japanese monsters. There are a total of three food theme parks in this entertainment zone.

Visitors can also pay a visit to the Sunshine International Aquarium, located on the tenth floor of the building. One can get to see a large number of marine creatures in this fantastic aquarium, like stingrays, sunfish, frogs and others. One can also find Penguins and snakes in this aquarium.
The Sunshine 60 Building also houses an observation deck on ist top most floor. Known as the Sunshine 60 Observation Deck, it is an open air sky deck from where one can get a panioramic view of the entire city. You can also pay a visit to the Sunshine Starlight Dome. This is a planetarium which is equipped with Skymax, a digital image system. Besides these, one can also check out the cars in Amulux, a Toyota showroom. This showrooms is liocated in the Sunshgine City complex.

You can come to Sunshine 60 Building by taking a train to the Ikebukuro Station. This tattion is served by the JR Yamanote Line, JR Saikyo Line, and JR Shonan Shinjuku Line.

The Sunshine 60 Building is one of the major commercial and entertainment centers of the Tokyo. This huge skyscraper is also one of the major landmark of the city.
