Odaiba Rainbow City

Odaiba Rainbow City is a futuristic business, shopping, entertainment and residential district on a man-made island in Tokyo Bay. Odaiba is home to several shopping and entertainment centres, restaurants, theme parks, hot spring baths, museums, and more.

Daiba, literally meaning "fort", refers to some of the man made islands in the Bay of Tokyo, which were constructed in the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868) for the city's protection against attacks from the sea.

Today's Odaiba is a popular shopping and sightseeing destination for Tokyoites and tourists alike. Some major attractions include:

Fuji TV studios is a distinctive building designed by Kenzo Tange. This is the headquarters of Fuji Television, one of Japan's private, nationwide TV stations. You can see some exhibitions on popular programs, buy Fuji TV goods at the souvenir shop and access the futuristic looking building's observatory deck.

Rainbow Bridge (Tokyo) connects Odaiba to the heart of Tokyo

Decks Tokyo Beach is a shopping mall, feat. Sega Joypolis and Little Hong Kong are the two food theme parks with three floors packed with the newest arcade games and more.

Aqua City is a shopping center. The shopping mall features various stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and a 13 screen cinema complex.

Venus Fort, a Venice-themed shopping mall in the style of an 18th century South European town. It features more than one hundred boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants, targeting a mainly female audience.

Daikanransha, is the world's largest Ferris wheel after the London Eye. It is a part of Palette Town, and it is 115 meter tall.

Oedo-Onsen-Monogatari is a hot springs theme park. You can enjoy various types of baths, which are fed by actual hot spring water from a depth of 1400 meters.

Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa Ward is one of two beaches in urban Tokyo (swimming not recommended). Based on the ideas of community residents, new additions have made Rainbow Park an even more fun place where everyone can learn more about ecology, so be sure to pay a visit sometime soon.

Miraikan, The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation is a well done, highly interactive and bilingual science museum includes exhibits about environmental issues, robots (starring Asimo among others), information technology, biology and space exploration.

Tokyo Big Sight, also known as Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo Big Sight is Japan's largest exhibition and convention center and one of the bay islands' boldest architectural creations.
