Festival Gate is a popular amusement park of Japan located in Osaka, adjacent to the Shinimamiya Station of the Osaka Kanjo Line of Nishinihon Japan Railway and Nankai Railway. The Festival Gate opened in downtown Osaka on July 18, 1997.
An interesting fact about this Park is that the city of Osaka has invested in the park, but it is currently managed by a private company and not directly by the city. This urban multi-level amusement complex was proposed by 4 major trust banks in the East in a land trust enterprise competition to contribute to the development of the former Kasumicho train depot of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau. The general manager for the project is Shu Takadono, who promoted the entire planning of Festival Gate and is the director and planning and development manager at SENYO Group.
The main attractions of Festival Gate are its amusement facilities, ingeniously ideated and planned by the SENYO Group. All the amusement facilities at the Park, right from their inception stage as mere ideas to their conceptualization, designing, planning and building, through to management of the Festival Gate are single-handedly managed by the top brass in the Group. The Group's ingenuity and expertise can be especially credited for the submarine city and for the amusement facilities that take advantage of the multi level building.
The total footfall expected in a year in Festival Gate was 5 million people, however, the expected annual visits was achieved in less than 6months of the opening of Festival Gate.
Though it is a popular tourist attraction of Japan, it faces strict competition from Universal Studios Japan. However, its eight-storeys of exclusive shops and chic restaurants are always thronged by people both locals and tourists.
