The National Museum of Western Art is one of the most famous public art galleries of Tokyo, Japan. The museum is situated in Ueno Park, Tokyo. It was established in the year 1959 around the core Matsukata Collection .The museum has a huge collection of pieces from 15th century to till today.

The main building of the museum was designed by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. The main building of the museum displays 18th century paintings by the famous artists like Ritzos, Van Cleve, Ribera, Rubens and Van Ruysdael .Most of these paintings are basically religious paintings. It also displays French paintings of 19th and 20th century. Most of these paintings are the work by Delacroix, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Moreau and Gauguin. The National Museum of Western Art also displays paintings by the modern painters like Ernst, Miro, Pollock, Picasso, Soutin and Dubuffet.

The National Museum of Western Art displays paintings by the French artists of the 19th and 20th century like Boucher, Moreau, Cezzane and Rodin. The Museum on a regular basis organizes exhibitions of these paintings. The museum also has a unique collection of 58 sculptures by Auguste Rodin. The three most famous sculptures of Rodin are the Thinker, The Gates of Hell and the Burghers of Calais. This wonderful collection has been displayed in the museum's courtyard.

The National Museum of Western Art remains open on all weekdays till 17.30 hours, but on Friday the museum remains open till 20.00 hours.
