Shinjuku Central Park

Positioned in western Shinjuku, Nishi-Shinjuku, 2-chome, Tokyo, Shinjuku Central Park is a small green area. Famous for its waterfall, the park is encircled by Honnnan Dori to the north, Junisha Dori to the west, Suido Dori to the south, and Koen Dori to the east. The garden is enclosed by some of Tokyo's highest buildings including the tallest ones, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Twin Buildings.

Staying at hotels like the Century Hyatt, the Park Hyatt, and other motels in western Shinjuku would give you an easy access to the park. Therefore, if are on a trip to Tokyo and residing at any of these hotels, the park with its greenery will simply provide you a scope for a refreshing evening walk.

The design of the park is very simple. For the many office workers in this area, it is an ideal place to spend their lunch time. Here you will also see the possessions of homeless people cautiously gripped in blue plastic ready to be unpacked at night. On this area, there are several activities taking place. The Tokyo citizens go to the park, not to relax, but to indulge in hobbies. Everyone come here to play, in whatsoever way they prefer to. And they do it with a concentration which must be admired. Well, that's also a way of relaxing.

This is not the biggest park of Shinjuku area, but the most central - right next to the enormous city government buildings, reaching for the sky as if to penetrate it. There is, of course, a lot of green in the park, but its main attraction seems to be the open space in front of the waterfall, although this is right by one of the busy streets.

Shinjuku Central Park is unlike the Shinjuku Imperial Gardens, also known as Shinjuku Gyoen, situated on the south-eastern side of Shinjuku Station.

One of the 23 wards of the metropolis of Tokyo is Shinjuku. However, this place usually refers to just the great entertainment, trade and shopping area around Shinjuku Station.
