Travel to Japan can be a rich and rewarding adventure. But there are certain do's and don't about Japan which a traveler has to keep in mind.

There is no need of inoculations to enter Japan. It's safe to drink tap water and eat anywhere in Japan.

Tipping is not recommended unless given for a special service. It is customary in Japan that while entering a home please remove your shoes at the door.

Only American citizens don't require a visa for entering in Japan. But if they are traveling as tourist staying 90 days or less then they need only a valid passport to enter in Japan. Whereas Australians and New Zealanders do not need a visa for stays period of 90 days. Canadians can stay for up to 3 months without a visa.

It is customary in Japan that while entering a home please remove your shoes at the door.

If you are 20 years or above then you can bring duty-free into Japan 500 grams of tobacco or 100 cigars, 3 bottles of alcohol.

Pack your luggage as light as can because there is fixed storage space on Japan's trains. Jeans and capris are okay for the casual dining and sightseeing but don't wear shorts, as they are uncommon in Japan outside hiking and sports areas.
