Yokohama Chinatown
Yokohama Chinatown would take one back to 19th century when the port of Yokohama became one of the first ports in Japan to open for foreign trade. The Chinatown became the area where many of the Chinese settled in the city.The Chinatown in Yokohama is one of the attractions in the city as it attracts tourists who come to enjoy the culture. One here would find many colorful streets that resemble some part in China. There are four gates at the entrance of the Yokohama Chinatown followed by five more gates in the center. In the Chinatown there is also a temple called the Kanteibyo.
The Chinatown in Yokohama also has a food theme park for the food enthusiasts. The Dasko represents Shanghai of 1920's and the streets are full of restaurants operated by well-known chains from China and Japan.
In the Yokohama Chinatown one would find various festivals that adorn this place like the Chinese New Year, Kanteitan and Kokkei- setsu. In order to reach the Chinatown it is near to Motomachi station and also a short walking distance from the Ishikawacho station.
All those interested in shopping Chinese souvenirs there are lot of shops that has lots of interesting stuff for everyone. One here can find goods from Thailand, Indonesia, India and Mexico.
Yokohama Chinatown is the largest in Japan and has a history of about 150 years but these days not many Chinese live here yet it would a time to witness the coming together of different cultures.
