Kuwait is a country where the majority of the population is the followers of Islam and Eid in Kuwait marks a national holiday and forms an important part of Festivals and events in Kuwait. All the festivals in Kuwait are celebrated with much pomp and show and among them Eid in Kuwait is worth mentioning. One of the two religious festivals in the Muslim year is Eid also called Eid ul fitr which is celebrated over the successful completion of the month of Ramadan. On the eve of Eid, Muslims stare at the sky to get a glimpse of the new moon which is believed to bring prosperity and happiness. The other one is Eid al Adha, a festival of sacrifice held on the 10th day of Dhual Hijjah, the twelfth or pilgrimage month.

Eid is a beautiful festival which spreads the message of peace and love to the whole world. No matter how much enmity there be among two Muslims, this day they pray together and embrace religiously to greet happy Eid. Muslims of all age group and gender await Eid in Kuwait with lots of anticipation and excitement the arrival of Eid. On the Eid day, men offer special Eid namaaz early in the morning in the mosques. Eid in Kuwait lasts for three to four days, during which Kuwaitis put on their new clothes and visit their friends and relatives' home greet each other and bestow gifts.

The other interesting feature of Eid in Kuwait is the traditional and delicious sweet dish called 'Sewain'. Eid al Fitr is celebrated more festively because it marks the end of the month of Ramadan(link to Ramadan in Kuwait) so it is basically a day to eat drink and make merry. Children specially await the arrival of this festival with lots of excitement looking forward to receive "Eidiah" which is money given as a present during the Eid, from people older than them. Many people throw parties at their home on Eid inviting their friends and relatives to get-together and celebrate in a grand way while others go out to some restaurants for dining.
