Putra Light Rail Transit Service, Kuala Lumpur is one of the light rail transit system operating in Kuala Lumpur. A favorite means of transportation among the people of Kuala Lumpur. It has been operating since 1998. Putra Light Rail Transit Service changed its name to Kelana Jaya Line in the year 2005.

This driverless metro service came as a boon to the people of Kuala Lumpur who were tired of the traffic jam of the city. This rail service connects the various areas of Kuala Lumpur from east to west .The Putra Light Rail Transit Service; Kuala Lumpur covers an area of 29 km. This railway is operational in Kuala Lumpur and its adjoining Klang valley. It connects the overcrowded areas of People's park and Gombak. The Putra Light Rail Transit Service is considered as the world's second longest self powered and fully automated driverless metro service of Asia. The ownership of this railway is on Syarikat Prasarana Negera Berhad.

The construction of the first 29km distance of the light rail transit was divided into two sections. In Section 1 a metro service from Subang Depot to Pasar Seni Station was developed, which began its operation in September 1998. In Section 2 another metro service was developed from Pasar Seni Station to Terminal PUTRA, which started its operation in June 1999.

Putra Light Rail Transit Service which is known as the Kelana Jaya Line has 24 stations. It was constructed into two sections Lembah Subang to Pasar Seni and Pasar Seni to Ampang Park and Gombak. The first phase of the light rail transit is built on an elevated single track bridge. This phase covers an area of 4.9 miles. Moreover this service covers an area of 9.3 miles avoiding conflict with the city's road. The speed of the train is about 40km/h.The rail covers about 30,000 passengers per hour. This rail service is operational for about 18 hours in a day. The names of the some of the stations covered by this rail service are Terminal Putra, Taman Melati, Wangsa Maju, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek and Others. Among the 24 stations covered by this railway Sir Rampai station is not in use.

This railway stresses on safety measures for the travelers. The edges of the platform are protected by barriers which prevent the travelers from getting close to the moving trains or railway tracks. Moreover the stations have emergency buttons for the safety of the passengers.
