National Science Center
The National Science Center, Kuala Lumpur, located at the Persiaran Bukit Kiara, is home to different exhibits which have been designed to stimulate and encourage visitors so as to cultivate an active interest in science and technology. The National Science Center or NSC was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the country, YAB Dato Seri Dr Mahathir bin Mohamed on November 29, 1996.Experience a scientific sojourn within the huge green building. The hands-on interactive exhibits are segregated into 9 different categories. The journey to posterity in this four storied complex begins with a walk through the overhead tropical freshwater aquarium to be followed by the Environmental Odyssey that unravels the threats that are encountered by the ecological system. For children, there is the Exploration Center, apart from the universally accessible library, auditoriums, cafes, and the Science Shop. The general purpose is to relate science, religion and sociology.
The harmonious and attractive environment at the Bukit Kiara, this new national landmark possesses a unique architecture that resembles a truncated cone that is capped by a geodesic one. As an institution of informal learning the National Science Center was entrusted with the duty to promote awareness, appreciation and understanding of science and technology. The Center remains open everyday except Sunday.
