Royal Palace

Royal Palace

Istana Negara, the Royal Palace or the National Palace is the official residence of His Majesty, Yang di-Pertuan Agong. His residence covers an area of 28 acres of land. This palace was built in the strategic position on the undulating green lands of Bukit Petaling looking at the Klang River. Constructed in the year of 1928 by a Chinese millionaire, this archaic construction was the residence of the Sultan of Selangor till the day the modern government was established.

There were several historical ceremonies in this particular palace. The royal pledge, coronation, installation ceremony took place in this palace. In the contemporary era, the foreign diplomatic appointments are held right in this place. There is a huge banquet hall in the Istana Negara of Malaysia. The first floor of the building is dubbed as Dewan Mengadap where the King or His Majesty receives foreign diplomats and international dignitaries. There are other rooms such as Bilik Duta, Bilik Permaisuri and Bilik Menteri. Each of the rooms has distinctive function and regulation. There are restrooms too in the palace.

There is one New Istana Negara which was built with 400 million RM. This construction is supposed to surpass the glamour and beauty of the archaic one. The new palace is considered to be inaugurated in the year of 2009.
