The island of Langkawi located just off the coastline of North Western Malaysia lies about 30 km from Kuala Perlis and 51 km from Kuala Kedah. In fact altogether Langkawi consists of ninety-nine- hundred and four small islets that constitute the entire archipelago. 99 islands are visible during high tide where as 104 islands are visible during low tide. Langkawi measuring about 478.5 sq km is the largest of all archipelagoes in the globe. This colossal archipelago houses some of the oldest rainforests in the world that are the veritable treasure trove of diverse flora and fauna.
Flanked by stunning beaches, this picturesque island has a pastoral setting with villages and paddy fields.

One can travel within Malaysia through various ways. But in order to reach Langkawi, one has to travel either by air or by sea.
Getting to Langkawi by Air is a good option. However not many airlines services are available.
The International Airport of Langkawi is the Padang Matsirat International Airport (code: LGK).This Airport located at a distance of approximately 20 kms from Kuah and 8km from the seaside resorts in Pantai Cenang. Malaysia Air System or Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia and Silk Air provide air services to Langkawi.
The Malaysia Air System (MAS) is the national and the largest domestic air carrier of Langkawi. It flies through Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi and also from Penang. The national carrier flies a number of times each day between Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

Silk Air operates regular flights from from Singapore to Langkawi. Direct international flights are also available from Osaka and Taipei to Langkawi. At present, Silk Air has no office in Langkawi, but booking can be made at MAS counter within the airport.

Domestic flights from Penang, Johor Bahru and Ipoh to Langkawi are also available.
Apart from this, alternative airlines including Eva Air and China Airlines also fly to Lankawi.
