Essaouira is one of the most attractive towns on the south-west coast of Morocco. The city exudes undeniable charm and lures tourists with its expansive sandy beaches, enchanting waters, art galleries, wood workshops, fishermen and colorful boats. Being a coastal town with sandy beaches, Essaouira is considered a paradise for various sports like windsurfing, kite surfing, Golf, hunting, fishing, etc. Golf is a very popular sport in Essaouira. King Mohammed VI - a former king of Morocco, was an ardent follower of the game of golf, and therefore promoted many international golf tournaments throughout the country. Many golf tournaments have been organized in his honor and he currently holds the prestigious position of the sports manager of Morocco. There are no golf courses within the Essaouira city itself. The nearest courses are at Agadir or Meknes. Nevertheless, the game is avidly followed in the town and a lot of golfing activities can be enjoyed from Essaouira.
