Cherry Festival, Fez

The Cherry Festival, Fez is held annually from the 11th to the 24th of June. It is the celebration of the harvesting of the strawberry crop and one can taste it as much as one likes as there is no dearth of it.

The festival is also accompanied by the various events like the sport competitions, participation in the colorful souks, the music and the dance, and a procession with the participants carrying torches. All these come to an end with the election of Miss Cherry parading along with her band of admirers.

This event is held in an ancient town and it is considered to be much older than even the 8th Century structures of Fez. The festival is held at Sefrou on the slopes of the Middle Atlas. The slopes are best suited for the growth of cherries. This fact has lent almost a fruity flavor to the charm of this place.
