Features of Auckland Museum of Transport, Technology and Social History

Auckland Museum of Transport, Technology and Social History is built on the site that once pumped water drawn from Western Springs Lake to early Auckland homes and businesses. The Pump house, with its magnificent Beam Engine, is now a focal point. it is one of only three working Beam Engines in the world. The Pump house is one of two original buildings on the site, the other being the Engineer's Cottage in the Victorian Village.

Auckland Museum of Transport, Technology and Social History was opened by MOTAT in 1964. It is the largest museum of transport, technology and social history in New Zealand covering 16 hectares (40 acres) in Western Springs, 4.8km (3 miles) from the city center. The museum houses a number of outstanding collections.
