Features of Alberton in Auckland
- The Alberton House came into existence in the Year 1863. It started its journey as a farmhouse made out of solid timber with stylistic verandahs and tall towers. The number of room was 18 after expansion.
- This lovely Alberton Mansion belonged to the family of Kerr Taylor who were a well known prestigious family in the Mount Albert locality. The huge estate was run by Allan Kerr Taylor who was a well known investor and a famous name in the political circle. However after his demise, his wife Sophia took up the responsibility. The three unmarried daughters of the Taylor's were the last to rule the estate. The Mansion was handed to the Trust in 1972.
- The Alberton Mansion still has some beautiful gardens and is the living symbol of the wealthy life style of the known families inhabiting Auckland.
- Alberton was a renowned name in the 19th Century scenario and the perfect venue for garden parties, balls and social, get together. Today the place retains its ancient charm and is used for hosting wedding receptions, functions meetings and other commercial events.
- The rooms at Alberton still bear the mark of their 19th century charisma. Many of the rooms still have their wall papers intact while the house is full of the original furniture's owned by the family.
