The Court Theatre is New Zealand's leading professional theatre company that offers high quality entertainment all round the year. Situated within the historic Arts Centre of Christchurch, the Court Theatre is a stage company dedicated to the performance, preservation and promotion of the performing arts.

The Court Theatre has two functional auditoriums, namely, Court 1 which seats 291 and Court 11 which seats 115. With quality productions being put up for so many years, this is one of the most popular and very frequented theatre, with a local fan-following as well as raving reviews by tourists and visitors.

The Court Theatre performs everything from Shakespeare to contemporary plays by New Zealand playwrights, and puts up around 9 productions a year, that come up to something like 270 performances. There are basically three kinds of events in The Court Theatre namely New Zealand works, contemporary overseas shows and classics. There are also children's plays during the holidays, as well as the Court Jesters, who run the Scared Scriptless comedy sessions on Friday nights.

The Court Theatre also has other facilities to offer to its patrons, such as a bar & coffee shop both of which open 1 hour before each performance. The bar, however, remains open after the performance also. One can also find abundant parking facilities in the Rolleston/Worcester Boulevard Carpark.

Saturday 10.00am - 8.15pm

Monday, Thursday - 6:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday - 7:30pm
Saturday matinee - 2:00pm
