This well-known restaurant is owned by Celia Hay and Allan Hay - both Hays who have married Hays. That’s why it has been named as Hay’s Restaurant.

Hay’s Restaurant, Christchurch serves modern New Zealand cuisine with a hint of Asia and a dash of the Mediterranean, blended with the fresh, green local produce. All the lamb on the menu of this restaurant has been grown at Celia and Allan's historic Pigeon Bay property where Allan's family has been farming since 1843.

In 1995, Hay's was judged by Christchurch Diners to have in its store the best menu with matching wines in the Corbans Wine and Food Challenge. In 1996 and again in 1997, Hay's was awarded Corban's Best Café Menu and Wine Match. In 2000, Hay's was an overall finalist. Each year since 1997, Hay's has been awarded the NZ Beef and Lamb Bureau's Hallmark of Excellence.
