The Great New Zealand Trek Event New Zealand
The Great New Zealand trek event is a novel event, as in it provides the participants a freedom of choosing how they wish to travel through various segments of New Zealand- on a cycle, on horseback or on foot. The entire country is divided into 12 stages and each stage is covered every year. The entire trek covers all the geographical features of the country and brings about an unqualified brotherhood among those who participate and those involved. After an arduous journey through the day, the participants spend the evenings in camps enjoying an excellent and wholesome meal, hot baths and in merriment. Each year the ever-burgeoning crowd of participants only seems to swell. The challenge is an ambitious one but the intentions are equally lofty.The Great New Zealand Trek Event is conducted every year in order to create Multiple Sclerosis awareness in the minds of the people. Termed a 'Race Towards a Cure', this adventure event has been growing extremely popular with the New Zealanders. The aim is to combine the average Kiwi's love of outdoor and adventure with a noble purpose and create a pursuit that not only is rewarding, not only for the participant but also for those suffering from this deadly disease.
This year the trek has been slotted from Saturday, 24th February 2007 to Sunday, 4th March 2007. The segment to be covered this year is the second, encompassing the stretch from Rawene to Pouto Point. The Great New Zealand Trek Event shall commence at the De Theirry Rd, Rawene A number of spectacular locales in Rawene, Dargaville, Bay of Islands will be covered. These regions are generally not accessible to the layman and the highlight of the trek is the allure that these virgin territories hold out to the adventure enthusiast, nature lover and philanthropist.
