Regarded as an adventure seeker's dream come true, you could even walk along the steep trails of an active volcano. Witness to numerous eruptions, Mount Ruapehu has an altitude of 2000 meters. The mountain is comprised of volacanic rock, lava and ash. En route to your climb you would be awe stuck by the rugged and calm beauty of this volcanic mountain.

There are numerous walking trails along this volcano. The steep slopes of this rugged mountain are a great way to exercise your body. Whatever be your age or fitness level, you would get your preferred walking path. Apart from the thrill to climb an active volcano, you would also gain a first hand knowledge of the unique geology and geographical attributes of Mount Ruapehu.

The easiest walking trail is the Medas Wall. A filmic location of the blockbuster “The Lord of The Rings” trilogy, a trek through this path would rejuvenate your body and mind.

Located on the north-western slopes of Mount Ruapehu, Whakapapa is New Zealand's largest ski field. Covering a massive area of 550 hectare, the skiing area offers snowboarding and skiing facility for all proficiency levels. Besides skiing and snowboarding, this site provides facilities including a tobogganing and a tubing area.
