By Air

The Wellington International Airport is located at about 5 km from the central city in Rongtai and it is a major transit point for all the domestic travelers. One can easily reach Wellington by air as the flights are frequent direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, Brisbane and also from Fiji. If you are flying from anywhere out of Oceania then you can fly through Christchurch, Auckland or Fiji.

By Train

There are the Tranz Scenic trains that arrive at Wellington from a number of destinations in New Zealand. The other trains that are easily available are the Overlander and the TranzCoastal travels. The latter travels between Christchurch and Picton and connects with the Interislander that travels to and fro from Wellington.

By Sea

There are frequent ferry services like the Bluebridge and the Interislander that links the northern and the southern islands.

By Road

One can reach Wellington by the two best roads- the State Highways 1 and 2.
