The Sultanate of Oman has a diverse geography from mountains to plains to coastal areas. This has resulted in a wide variety of changes in Oman Climate . Although the position of the country is situated in the tropics, the climate of Oman is subject to seasonal changes which is common in the temperate regions of the world.

The Oman Climate is exceedingly hot and dry for most of the year. Summer months in Oman start in mid-April and last till October. The hottest months are from June till August. The mean summer temperature in the capital of Oman ,Muscat is 33 degree Centigrade. The highest summer temperatures registered in the country of Oman is above 50 degree centigrade. Mainly the interior of the country has such temperature and people are advised to stay indoors.

The Oman Climate is different in some regions. The Dhofar region has comfortable summer months. It receives cool winds from the Indian ocean and has a light monsoon climate . The Al Batinah plain has summer temperatures around 46 degree centigrade. The temperature does not exceed much but because of the low elevation the humidity can reach 90 percent.

Winter months are comfortable in Oman. The temperature ranges from 15 degree centigrade to 23 degree centigrade. This is the perfect time to visit the country . From October to March the Oman Climate is mild and pleasant.

Rainfall in the Sultanate of Oman is sparse and irregular. The rainfall also varies in the different regions of the country. The mountains of Al Jabal al Akhdar receives about 700 millimeters of rain. In the southern part of the country ,the summers months receives rains. But in the northern part of the country , rains happens due to the winter storms . The storms descend from the eastern Mediterranean have an average rainfall of 10 centimeter. The months of January to March receives this rainfall.

Rainfall varies but in general remains sparse and irregular. In the south most of the year's rainfall occurs during the summer monsoon months. In the north the opposite occurs. Here most rain comes from occasional winter storms which descend out of the eastern Mediterranean during the months of January through March, depositing an annual average of 10 cm of rain on the capital area.
