Tres de Abril, another April fest celebrated with utmost pomp and grandeur acquires quite a commendable position in the lives of the Cebuano population. It's celebrated on the 3rd of April every year. The main purpose of celebrating this festivity is to commemorate Cebuano protestation to Spanish resistance to the south. The day is mostly marked and celebrated by parades, and exhibitions displaying historical accessories and ammunitions etc.

This historical battle was led by Leon Kilat who guided Cebu to victory against Spanish domination and Cebu gained recognition as the first major island other than Luzon to oppose Spanish domination. The original battle was fought in the year 1989 when the Cebuano natives revolted against Spanish colonization. The battle fought between Cebu and the Spanish colonizers was a fierce one and finally the Spanish colonizers were driven out up to Fort San Pedro. The Spanish force was initially boosted by the arrival of the Spanish Armada but finally they had to accept defeat at the hands of the Cebuano natives. This victory has significance in Cebuano history as this was the turning point in Philippine's liberation. This victory ultimately paved the path for the Independence of Philippines.
