The language of any country makes for very interesting study and the more diverse the country is, the more diversity in languages is found. Cebu language is one of the most interesting languages. Cebu is the largest province of Philippines, and was at one point of time in history, under Spanish domination. Therefore Spanish is still one of the Cebu languages. The older generation still breaks in to Spanish and it was the original official language of the island country of Philippines. Another language that is spoken in Cebu is English. The world over, English has become the lingua franca, so it is hardly surprising that the popularity of English will grow by leaps and bounds in Cebu too.

Another Cebu language is Cebuano, an Austronesian language. This language falls within the family of Visayan language. The inhabitants of Cebu, Bohol, Negros island, Oriental, parts of Leyte and Samr islands speak Cebuano. It is also spoken by the people of Mindanao. The interesting feature of this Cebu language is that the sentences are formed with verb, subject and then object order. Prepositions are mostly used in place of postpositions and nouns are used after adjectives. There are sixteen consonants in Cebuano language.
